
About Us
American Veterans was formed in 2005 by Jesse Lee Curtis.
Jesse was a veteran of the Korean War. Upon being honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, he graduated from Howard High School in 1956. He attended Zion Bible College, received a Bachelors's Degree from Knoxville College, and earned a master's of science degree from Tennessee State University. Jesse served as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in the Chattanooga Public School System for more than 30 years.
He was a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Mount Moriah Lodge, Alfrada Consistory, Hyksos Temple #123 Prince Hall Shriners, and Elks Lodge. He founded the AmVets Post 36 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Each year members of AMVETS Post 36 participate in the Armed Forces Day Parade/Luncheon, Memorial Day, and Veterans Day activities. We also personally hand out JROTC certificates at local high schools each year.
